Why must we teach the Creation – Evolution debate in our Churches today? For over a century generations have been deceived into believing that Genesis is unnecessary and non-essential to the gospel message of Jesus Christ. The first eleven chapters of Genesis give a true history of the world and are foundational to the Gospel message. Psalms 11:3; If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do? Christians need to understand how true science affirms God’s word. At the Scope’s Monkey trial in1925 the main Christian witness did not have answers to Biblical and scientific questions. The result was atheistic evolution entered and now dominates our educational system. In the last 50 years Christian theologians and scientists have developed sound answers with which Christians can defend their faith. 1 Pet 3:15 More and more we are discovering that Christians do not know what the Bible says or how the history of the world relates to God’s plan of salvation. Rom 5:12, 1 Cor 15:21-22. Evolution is a dominant secular view and is mandated curriculum for public schools across the nation. The theory is not only taught as a section in Biology class, but throughout the curriculum as a stepping stone to influence the minds of our children and their world view. Evolution is founded upon Secular Humanistic theology that assumes there is no God. Imposing these ideas on the Bible undermines the God inspired message. The church needs to be teaching a Biblical Worldview of Biology, Geology, all sciences and all disciplines to counteract this suffocating anti – Christian Worldview. The people in our culture are like the Greeks that Paul preached to on Mars Hill (Acts 17:22-34), not like the Jews Peter was preaching to that had a thorough education in the scriptures. We must change their whole thinking, the whole worldview of people before they can understand the need for redemption (and have a lasting change in their lives). It is through Creation Evangelism that children and adults can understand the full Gospel message from creation to the cross. Prov 22:6, 2 Pet 3:3-6 |
